Shani Amavasya 2012 (myths and blind faiths)

Shani Dev is one of the most popular deities that the Hindus pray to ward off evil and remove obstacles.

Meaning of Shani in Sanskrit and in Stress Management

Shani literally means in Sanskrit “slow-moving-one”. According to myths, Shani oversees the “dungeons of the human heart and the dangers that lurks there.” As far as stress management is concerned its is the law of relativity. How…?

If you are asked to spend a year in beautiful place ( with beautiful women and drinks esp.) time will fly. On the contrary if you are fallen into a bad patch ( may be a painful relationship or separation, health problems and bankruptcy), time will not move at all.

The Lord of Bad Luck?: Using Shani in fortune telling

Hindus make janma-Kundli (the planetary positions at the time of one’s birth) and use it to predict the future events in man’s life. It’s a mathematical calculation of planetary positions in future and interpreting as good bad events life. ( I am yet to see anyone predicting a correct future. It’s a subjective issue as some people are die hard believer of their Pundit or fortune tellers). Shani is considered to be an evil. Because it foretells a bad patch in life as said earlier. ( there is no doubt that people faces bad patches otherwise also).

The so called experts pundits elaborate the suffering people to arrange for various pujas and rituals to get rid of evil effects of Shani. What a sufferer can do? He is already depressed and looking for a quick escape. He is ready to pay heavily for such rituals and buy peace from the ill effects of Shani. (suggestion- Plenty of Babas and Bapus are upcoming to help you out and there is no logical or spiritual explanation to what they suggest. I repent, I should have been taken it as a profession. Too much money is this Babagiri )

Logic of Shani does not fit everywhere.

Everyone has a bad patch in life irrespective of his/ her  religion and location. Example: a catholic who is suffering from a bad patch, what will he do? He will simply surrender to Jesus. Same for a Muslim, as he will surrender to Allah. This is in addition to the possible efforts and hard work they are putting into. So it is the combination of faith and hard work that works.

Many people who overcame the bad patch were not aware of Shani ( and blind faith?)

Many warriors, great personalities in the past narrate their various experiences where, suddenly, they were put into challenging situations. Some were successful by means of enduring (Auschwitz Camp) , some kept trying ( mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suue Kyi). In such situations the mantra of the secret is “Someone has to break, then, why you? Let the situation break and you will be the winner.” And when the situation changes to favorable, People call it “miracle”.

As the law of impermanence always dictates, nothing is permanent in this world, even the worst patch. Just face it, endure it and keep trying.

Self help:

• If you are willing to pay for the rituals, pujas during bad patch and if it gives you and family peace, please do it. But ensure that you are not taken granted and cheated by the quacks on the name of Shani or any God.

• Ensure that you use conscience and detachment during evaluation of the situations.

Added on 15th May 2012:- I get regular  update from wordpress on, from which country what article is accessed. Surprisingly, Indians in US, UK and other developed countries keep searching for the effects of Shani, Shani Amawsya, Shani Puja. The impact of blind faith and upbringing  is so high that they are still entangled in such theories of “Shani ko gussa Kyun aata hai” and not able to come out of mental blocks. Its not Shani, its your mental patterns that directs you and others. Pl. read my articles on Samkhara in this blog. (Pl. reply if this has helped you)

Stress of a TYPE A personality Businessperson

Stress of a TYPE A personality Businessperson

Background: This is a story of a successful (by accumulating a chunk of money) business person who came up from a middle class family. He began with a small factory that was inherited from his father.

Behavior of this businessperson: This person can be called as a typical TYPE A personality.

  • He is very dynamic and people never seen taking rest or talking to others calmly. He always has two cellphones on both ears, and if he is in office then a landline call is always waiting for his either side of ear to be free. When he is not talking over the phone and he is in the office, he uses that time for scolding & blaming his employees, which he calls “daily warming up the staff”.
  • He feels that most of the persons are corrupt and everything can be managed by bribing.
  •  Whatever and whenever he delegates to subordinates, checks after every hour or two and likely to change his own morning’s decision by the evening.
  • His employees now used to his shouting style and mostly neglect it and consider it as normal. However this person thinks that people don’t listen to him so he puts more energy to shout and show aggressiveness.
  • Since this person always talks with a high pitch, subordinates also raise their voices to match his tone. The whole office sometimes is in chaos.
  • Because of his various anxieties and doubting nature, he subtly motivates employees to spy on others and report to him directly.

Peace of mind, stress and health problems:

  • Since this person does not trust own people, he intimidates subordinates by shouting and aggressive behavior. His current life style is full of anger, aggression, resentment, anxiety and restlessness. He can’t sleep peacefully. Since he feels that he controls everything and is the only person to be perfectly correct, his beliefs and mental conditioning are also growing stronger.
  • He takes pills to control blood pressure. ( some employees picked up his style of working and also attracted similar health problems like acidity, sleeplessness, blood pressure).

Remedy: this is the problem with many first generation entrepreneurs. Since they have nurtured their business like an infant, they think they are best persons to take care of it. It’s a long way for them to learn the habit of delegation, trust and relaxation. If they don’t learn it fast, they are going to suffer from various stress disorders. Do you find any of such bosses in your office? Unless they want to improve on their own, you can’t help them.

Let everyone be Jesus

Let everyone be Jesus

Faith is considered to be an important factor in all religions. Because of this faith people worship Gods and saints of their own religions. Krishna, Mahavir, Gautam Buddha, Jesus, Mohammad and many saints came on this earth, for almost the same purpose. They always guided people and spread message of peace, love, kindness, compassion at various time and space.

What happened to their teachings:- However their thoughts are rarely followed in genuine form and the spiritual books have remained on either shelves or being used as an instrument for spreading hatred & having short term political gains. These people with their shortsightedness and attitude, have changed peace into restlessness, love into hatred and compassion into selfishness.

Are we ready? We worship & pray to Gods and saints for our completion of desires and petty gains. If any of these saints ask us to give up our worldly possessions and follow him so that he can bestow upon us the heavenly peace & inner joy that all the saints have got, how many of us will join them? I guess, no one. Because our pleasures are always with reference to something that we always see outside us, for example, wealth, property, children, latest electronic gadgets, stock market, cars, women etc.

How we worship saints and Gods? We decorate Gods’ statues with gold, silver and diamonds, after achieving our petty & worldly goals. People have stated thinking that this is the way to show faith towards GOD, and the more the percentage share in profit, the more the devotion. No one is going to ask how this money is earned, whether through coercion, corruption, narcotics, stealing, child labor, underpaying employees, overpricing the customers etc. But the donor is ignorant in his inner conscience and seeks solace by bribing the God. When there is no love and compassion, this percentage gift is as bad as giving bribe to the Gods.

The first step towards merging with God present in our own soul is to follow Saint’s teachings with determination, VIVEK (conscience) and VAIRAGYA (detachment). Following this with determination can lead us to the next level of awareness, once this base is formed here, we would be guided to the next level and so on. Perhaps all the steps and spiritual progress may not be possible in this single life, but it is most important to lay down the foundation stone with our determination.

All the religious literatures have something common to say, “The God is waiting for everyone who decides to merge with Him, He is ready to guide everyone who takes the first step towards Him, just do it”. Every Individual has the capacity to reach the stage of Jesus, Buddha, Mahavir….. in some other birth once we start practicing from today, Peace, love, compassion, joy, inner peace…..
