Have you heard of this phrase in Sanskrit अन्ते मति सा  गति: ? “Ante mati sa gatih”

“Ante mati sa gatih”—whatever you are thinking about at the moment of death determines your next rebirth. If you are aware at the moment you die and you remember God you will definitely go to Him, there is no doubt about it. (ref http://www.tantra.com/tantra/svoboda.html)

Well, we have no objective evidence to prove life after death. However, one can test this  phrase in the deathlike condition, i.e.  sleep. (Though it is absurd to compare , it’s similar to life after death.) Because , we have no control over our own sleep,  when  and how it starts, what happens to us during the sleep, where we are during that period.  When we wake up, we ( mind and body) are united again.

How “Ante mati sa gatih” is applicable to this mini death experience called sleep?  When you try to sleep with the day’s problems still lingering in your mind, Have you ever noticed how the next day begins? If not pl. do it and you will realize that,  you  wake up the next day, the problems or emotions just ride back on your mind from where they discontinued.

What is the importance w.r.t. stress and health management?

Everyone is aware that, all negative emotions disturb body’s normal functioning not only during when we are awake but also during the sleep, but unfortunately that is not visible.  Have you ever noticed after waking up,  your  body’s vigor, pain, energy being affected because of  the lingering thoughts that you slept with?  No?  then you must start  observing it …..if you seek  good health of mind and body.

Self help:-

  1. Try to fill your mind with the positive thoughts or maintain thoughtlessness before you sleep.
  2. Try and feel how does your body feel when you wake up? What is the first thought  that pops up in your mind?
  3. There seems to be  link with this phrase, I die daily (Corinthian 15:31). Can you follow it with  “I am supposed to clear my mind of all negativity before going to bed and take a sound sleep and begin the next day like a fresh birth……with innocence, energy, positivity, faith ……

Summary:  अन्ते मति सा  गति:  “Ante mati sa gatih” :  “ suggests about Always Positive Thinking”
